Finnish Hard Rock

The 69 Eyes is my favorite band at the moment. I just discovered the band 2 years ago, and my very first song was Lost Boys.

I love the singers dark voice, it gives me goosebumps! I love it!

The 69 Eyes is a pretty new band, that has appared at MTV on Viva La Bam. Bam is frequ
ently known to be seen together with HIM, and if you look closely at the video for Lost Boys on YouTube, you can see Bam at least on two shots.

Lost boys is a tribute to the film with the same title, who is about a gang of vampires rampaging around. The lead vampire is Kiefer Sutherland himself!

The band started in 1989 already and is still doing lots of concerts. I wish they would apear in Norway at some point, I will gladely go see them!

Other good songs: Gothic Girl, Still Waters Run Deep, Feel Berlin and Don't turn your back on fear.

Nightwish
Nightwish I discovered by an "accident" while clicking through the TV programmes one night, back in 2002. There was this very special voice singing Over the hills and far away. I was stunned and got more goosebumps.

I searched for the CD, but didn't find it, and gave up almost. Then couple of months later I walked into the CD store and I once again "accidently" bumped into an entire shelf with only Nightwish! I saw the CD, grabed it and ran for the counter! LOL!

Now I have been to both Tarja's concerts in Norway, and is a proud owner of more than that one CD. :o)

I also have Annette's CD and I think it is good too, but in a completely different way. Her voice will never compete against Tarja's. They are too different.

The band started in 1996 and is still making music. Annett is their new lead singer from just a few years back, when the band fired Tarja through their own web site...

Some good songs: Dead Boys Poem, Away, Nemo, Deep Silent Complete, Kingslayer, Walking In The Air and Sleeping Sun.

HIM
I discovered HIM through some penpals actually. They all liked HIM and some other bands. I thought they were death metal and ruled them out to be honest. But one day curiosity overwhelmed me, and boy am I glad for that!

Ville Valo also has this very deep and strong voice that gives me the right mood. Mixed together with some very nice music it makes more pop/ rock than metal/ rock. It's more comercial, but I like it very much.

While driving to my friend's wedding (540km!) my new romance (now my fiancé) was the driver. I had just bought this CD of HIM that we played for hours both on the way up and on the way down. Now HIM reminds me of that trip!

HIM is a Finnish rock band that was formed in 1991. I still haven't made it to a concert of him, and I'm not sure if he's been in Norway either... The keep to Finland, Russia, Sweden and Germany mostly.

Some songs worth listening to: Gone With The Sin, Sweet Pandimonium, Behind the Crimson Door, Wings of A Butterfly and Killing Lonelyness.

Soanata Arctica
A different band in a good way. This is a band I don't remember when I started to listen to. Can't be more than 3 years ago at most. They took my heart and soul when I heard Peacemaker and Letter to Dana.

Tony has an amazing voice that is soft in a special way. He is the best Power Metal voice, together with the singer in Hammerfall.

November 1st 2008 they came to little Norway and did a concert in Rockefeller. A very small and intimate arena, you see them from every angle in the place. The place was full and it was a very good mood among us. :o)

My firm had the annual Christmas party that day, but Frode and I went to see Sonata instead!! I do not regret that at all. Allright, it would have been nice to walk the red carpet on the new James Bond premiere, but hey it's SONATA IN NORWAY!! They sang a lot of new songs that I haven't heard, but even though I didn't know the songs the mood of the concert was sooooo great. :o) We will go next time too, if it doesn't fall on the same day as the Christmas party this year... Don't think my boss' will understand my Sonata addiction. ;o)

This band was formed in 1996, and was first known as Tricky Beans/ Tricky Means! Guess Sonata Arctica is more of a name for this band. :o)
My fave songs: Replica, Fade to Black (cover of Metallica), I want out (cover of Helloween and they do it soooo more complete!), Peacemaker, Draw me and The Power of One.
